100 Year Old Factory Possible Entrepreneurial Hub
Over the last few years the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Flint has improved dramatically. Flint SOUP generates interest, excitement and funding for start-ups. The Flint Farmers’ Market provides 50+ small businesses with prime space to operate. Earlier this year Flint’s first co-working space, the gorgeous Co+Work, opened in the Dryden Building. And community maker space Flint Steamworks continues to add programs and equipment. All this in addition to great ongoing programs at the local universities that serve both students and the community.
Now there is an opportunity to add another missing piece to the innovation puzzle, an entrepreneurial hub for Flint that would provide a home for some existing programs as well as much needed start-up space for small businesses and entrepreneurs. The proposed location is the former Dort Motors Company Factory Two, located just north of Tenacity Brewing on Grand Traverse St. To make this vision a reality, and to ensure the best possible use of the building, we could use your help to Make The Space.
Please join us on Thursday, June 23rd, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. You’ll have an opportunity to tour the space and participate in a brief design charrette that will drive future plans. This event is open to the community, and particularly well-suited to makers, inventors, artists and entrepreneurs. Free refreshments will be provided by B-Dogs Hot Dog Cart, and there will be activities for younger folks on site as well. Stay for the whole time, or just drop in a for a bit to check things out.
